I like the move Sony has made with the Slim making it cheaper and a bit smaller. But honestly, the fat PS3 looks way better (IMO).
Who knows, because the slim is technically a new model, it has yet to prove it's reliability. Wouldn't it be crazy of Slims started having issues......and you traded your perfectly working, better looking model for a slim.......hmmmm.......
If you already have the better looking, more expensive, model, why trade for a downgraded model with 20g more HD space. To each his own though......i guess.......
