1. If you were completely 100% satisfied with it, then you would realize that you did not overpay for the system. You paid the full $600 (presumably) and had a chance to experience what Sony was bringing to the table at first. And it was great. The PS3 with blu-ray capabilities was a steal at $600 at launch.
2. The original piano black with chrome, card reader, backwards compatable, 4 usb port PS3 that you have has more features, cost more for Sony to make, and more for you to buy. It is the Playstation 3 before features were slowly removed. It is the Playstation Sony wished it could sell for $300 a while ago but couldn't.
The slim is cool, so I think you should buy it if you want to. But make sure you get slightly more than $300 for your older, and imo better system.
