No the article quite clearly states that that the repairs will cost $315 but the PS3 costs $699 new. It's now $499 after the price drop.

And Australian media has no problem with the PS3 for those making such claims..

Ah so its just Australians that have to pay that much.  Sucks to be them I guess...
