I don't think the slim will be cheaper to produce immediately.
Sony need to recoup the R&D for the Slims new components as well as manufacturing cost for these components.
This makes sense.
well not as high as $100 but I do think they will be losing more that the fat from the launch.
Like they say for how long depends on how much they sell.
