Multiplayer on separate disc ?

It was ok to swap disks on the PC.

It was ok to swap disks on the PSOne.

It was ok to swap disks on the PS2.

Now it's a big deal when swapping disks on the 360?

Why is this a big deal all of a sudden?  We've been doing it for decades...
