Nope .. it means nothing. Sony hasn't confirmed anything. It is very unlikely that the specs would be changed mid-cycle IF the older generation is unable t also do this.
I do hav eto point out that Sony has done it in the past with PSP-2000 having twice as much memory (used as buffer) to reduce load times on the PSP2000 compared to PSP1000 .... however I will blieve it when Sony confirms it :).
For now Slim is a better value as the only thing missing is Linux install which lets be honest only a very small number of individuals would be interested in.
The things it is better at than previous generation.
- less weight
- less noise
- less power consumption
- Bigger hard drive
- easier HD replacement
