1. The phat PS3 looks cooler.
Subjective. I never liked the domed look. Frankly speaking all the consoles are better left hidden behind cabinet doors.
2. You can pretend you're old school
Only if you want to be laughed at. Should be replaced by, if you have BC you can laugh at those poor schlub Slim owners.
3. We don't know if the slim will be as ultra dependable as the phat. It hasn't been proven reliable.
Sony is not MS. They will never allow 50%+ longstanding failure rates.
4. All the cool mods/stickers are for the phat.
People who put stickers on their PS3's need to be beaten down with Original XBOX controllers.
5. The phat is available right now, for the same price as the slim.
6. The phat is at the pinnacle of the phat PS3 technology.
The PS3 with BC could be considered the pinnacle of PS3 tech. Not the rest of the PS3 Phats. The PS3 slim has better tech than non-BC PS3s, period. Thats why they can slim it down AND have a slightly faster CELL chip.
7. The slim is just starting out, and might be untrustworthy, with some bugs that need ironing out.

8. The slim has nothing better than the phat, besides a few extra GBs of space on a slow HD you will replace anyway....besides energy efficiency, which as we all know, is hippie crap.
45nm CELL. ~30% more energy efficient. ~30% smaller. Better hard drive swap tray.
9. The PS3 phat is the 2nd best high end BR player according to CNet. The slim didn't even chart, heh. I'll accept no excuses.
Too early to tell whether its any different. Part of the reason PS3 Phat has such a good BR player is because of the hard drive (for firmware updates). Which is the same for the PS3 Slim. I would bet it will be exactly the same in terms of quality.
10. Sony is trying to clear out the potentially superior phats, so you'll be helping out Sony by buying one, and also, you won't be a fairweather Johnson. Win/Win.
