Why do people compare Forza 3 to GT5 graphics?

GT5 looks to have the slight edge in the graphics department, but I always thought the GT series had too many Japanese cars. With 1000 cars, I would think there would be a fair share of European and American cars too. All the fighting about graphics and car damage is typical fan boy stuff when you stop to consider they are basically the same game.
