Its a way for fanobys to feel good about themselves, to feel like something actually matters. They can't win fights/debates in the real world so they stop at nothing to be a jackass on the interwebz since thats all they really can do...
Well, seeing how one of the developers at Gamescom today was using "them fighting words" himself in a Behind Closed Doors-session, it's no wonder that the audience also compares.
