you can't say that wii sports is free. I don't know for how much it is sold in japan, and i don't know exactly how expensive a wii is there, but i know that the consoles are cheaper in japan than here. so if nintendo would sell the consoles without wii sports, they would be cheaper here aswell.
And I think it is good if wii sports is included in charts like tie ratio or general games market share. Those charts don't give you an information if you are interested in business value. For that, you would have to calculate with the money the publisher spent to develop those games. But if you are interested into those charts because you want to see how many games the wii gamers own, it is natural that it is included.
However, i don't think that it changes the picture that much. This does have hardly any effects for the tie ratio, because if the wii would have been sold without wii sports, the people would have bought this game or another instead and the ratio would have remained the same.
