it's strange that he decided to assault the guy over 20 cents....when he's gonna make more than 3$ million in the 09-10 season (btw he & his cousin, who was with him at the time, have been charged with second-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal mischief and theft of services)

Felony dropped. Also, the cabbie might not want to pursue this one all that much or risk having to file as a sex offender. Even the cabbies lawyer said it's been blown out of proportion.

Looking at the sequence of events, it seems likely that they were offered a payoff if they played the incident down.

Or the lawyer knows its illegal to physically restrain someone.... Which... locking them in the cab is exactly that.
