With a PC which I intended to use for gaming? no I wouldn't, because I know so many of the great games coming for the PC over the next couple of years won't run on such an old machine.
But of course you're not talking about a $299 PC are you? You're talking about a certain gaming console that's recently had a price cut, for which all games released for it until the end of time will run on that $299 machine. So in reality it makes not a bit of difference how old the GPU is.
If you're saying today's PC will deliver a superior gaming experience, well weren't PC gamers saying that when PCs used the same GPU as this console? So again, what's the point?
For certain games PC kicks ass. There isn't a console game that can compare when it comes to my favourite WRPGs and RTS games. But in other areas of gaming the console has it all over the PC.
For me PCs and consoles exist in parallel universes. Sometimes I live in the console universe and other times I live in the PC universe.
The advantage of the consoles for me is that I have been able to afford the current generation console ever since getting into gaming. But I've never yet been able to afford the most up-to-date gaming rigged PC, I've always had to settle for being at least 2 steps behind, and still pay a higher price than the current gen console.
