They are still peddling the same weak bullshit. We all know the legitimate reason why the feature was removed from the system. Doing so allowed them to remove components, and thus reduce the cost. They could also get more value for the components in its original format in the older system. Sony has listed off a dozen justifications for this that have nothing to do with the truth.

I also think it is time that some people on these forums accept the truth. The feature isn't going to come back, and as time passes Sony probably isn't going to keep manufacturing the needed chips. Once the PS2 sales die off there will no longer be a need to produce the chips. For those claiming the panacea of software emulation will save the day. You are woefully misguided. Emulation is not a massively complex task. Going on two years now if it were possible it would have been done.

The hardware in the PS3 is just too radically different from the PS2. The Cell cannot perform the functions that the Emotion engine was capable of. Sony had PS2 hardware in the PS3 for a good reason. Were the PS3 capable of doing the job with just software Sony would have saved a lot of cash for themselves and used emulation. Well they didn't and that is because they couldn't.

Really it is painfully simple deductive logic. You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to puzzle this one out.
