| RPG said: Polyphony Digital don't do CGI, end of. The E3 trailer was touched up replay mode or what not but none the less in engine. Even looking at those shitty off screen videos the game looks amazing. Call me what you want but this is easily the best looking racing game on consoles. Edit - Just so you know PD have NEVER done CGI. Even GT HD was GT4 upscaled and they got it in the neck for that. Also when Yamachi was asked if the E3 trailer was CGI he was confused such a stupid question was askes and said no. |
Can I really call you what I want? I think I'll call you John.
So John, here's what I think. I think Polyphony Digital does indeed do Computer Generated Imagery. I was looking at a suspiciously Computer Generated Imagery Intro for Gran Turismo 4 the other day. It actually plays every time I start up the game. End of, as you said, John.
I do believe that the trailer footage was close to the same render as you would see while playing the game, but I hardly think that that trailer would be running in realtime at 60fps on the PS3. I would be surprised if any of that footage ever ran on a PS3. Just the same as I would be surprised if those pictures taken of Gran Turismo PSP was actually produced on a PSP. With them being multiple times higher resolution than the PSP screen can handle, and all.
Not to worry though. The game will still look amazing. Hopefully it will also sound amazing. And, for once, I really hope they can manage to create an illusion of speed.
There you go, John. That's my assessment of the situation. I've been wrong on other occasions however, so I will not take badly to you disagreeing with me.
