I can definitely understand keeping it out to reduce costs to provide a cheaper hardware but it would be nice if they supported a B/C system as well for people to shell out some extra cash.
My PS2 isn't as good as it used to be, I'd like to get a new one but I can't justify spending $100 on a stand alone PS2 that won't get nearly as much use as the PS3.
