Your reasoning for the PS3 dropping early and there being no PS4 is pretty convincing, and definitely backed up by more facts than the arguments of most people who disagree. I believe the PS3 still has a good chance of hitting 30M lifetime, and the PS4 depends more on the financial situation of Sony's many other division in a few year than anything else, but if it's happening, then it's probably going the way you said.
