It won't be a big deal, most people who buy a PS3 don't know the feature was there/missing in the first place.

I don't know the circles you walk in socially but friends I have that love the PS3 often state that installing Linux is a great facility and shows Sony don't want to take over their system like Microsoft. This is a big "one up" feature I hear about and I'm sure over the last few years non PS3 owners have been told about this feature a fair few times and hence might expect it when they buy. I'm not saying it will be a huge number of people, I was just stating the obvious that some people will be miffed by this if they don't know the feature has been dropped.
I fail to see why such a niche feature needed dropping in the first place if nobody ever uses it supposedly.

New PS3 owners won't care as much. Watch the sales #s in the next few weeks, we'll see if the feature made that much of a difference.
I'm not saying it was a useless feature, I'm saying it won't hinder sales much, if at all. People want the PS3, NOW, for the games/Blu-ray/and probably some of it's other features, such as VidZone. The OS feature won't be that big of an issue, and I'm not talking about one's circle of friends either.

I haven't in any of my posts mentioned sales or stated this would adversely affect them so I don't see what your point is. I said it was a niche feature which indicates I know it's a minority who would use the system. I do like your scientific terminolgy though for predicting how useful a feature is by saying sales will be massive. When Sony dropped BC with the 40GB and cut price the sales rocketed but this doesn't signify BC was unimportant to a significant portion of gamers. You seem to be replying to me and trying to put words into my mouth...
