It's true. Twice (1st time, 2nd time) Universal has shown HD DVD cover art of Spielberg movies like Jurassic Park, and both times Spielberg came out and said that these movies were not coming to HD DVD any time soon, and Universal was forced to make a retraction. Also, Spielberg movies were specifically excluded from the Paramount/Dreamworks exclusivity clause.
In contrast, Close Encounters of the Third Kind will be the first Spielberg film released in HD, exclusively on Blu-Ray, by Fox Pictures.
