To be fair I don't think the OP really has much to discuss about because as far as I know (In the US at least) they just have you raise your right hand now. I think if you request a bible then they'll give you one.

Believe me there is plenty to discuss on the issue seperation of church and state - something the OP brought up.

Either way it makes far more sense to provide both discussions a format than it does to squash one for the sake of the other.  I fully encourage those interested in that discussion to make a new thread - it is very easy to do and I'm quite sure it will mushroom into a massive thread (they usually do - which is why I didn't want such a massive and heated topic possibly squashing this one).
