Most people don't want to screw around with removing/adding hardware...for the fear of screwing something up...and since it is not insured or covered under "I screwed it up myself"...most people don't do it. There have been countless people that have fried something due to the build up of static electricity...because they did not know how to ground themselves properly before handling the hardware.
