G has a theoretical maximum of 54Mbits however you can only achieve this with a strong signal. If you mean 20mbits then yea you'll be fine, if you mean 20Mbytes (8* the data) then you will be severely limited by the wireless.
Your best bet is an N or G (N is backwards compatible) ADSL 2+ router, it doesn't matter where you get it from, just make sure its a good brand. Since I don't know your router I can't be sure that it will work with another modem.
