A different what?
Well, there are certain benefits to being able to carry a handgun. What if someone has a knife and threatens to stab you and you left your life at home? Well, take out your gun and use it like a knife.
In all seriousness, if someone is threatening your life, it would be good to have a handgun (not an assault rifle) in that situation.
