I don't know. I had a 16 gig 2nd gen Ipod touch with me (not iphone) and I just turned it on after charging it fully and played and in 45 mins or so I got the battery warning.
I'm sure if I fiddled with it, set the screen to lowest brightness, turn off the sound...I'd prolly get little better battery life. I jsut wanted to play for an hour or 2 so I didn't think I had to worry.
