Let me ask you this. If it cost $10 a year, and 20% of the population didn’t pay it, would it bother you that they weren’t covered?
For me, what’s important is that it’s something every American can obtain. It’s of no concern to me what you do with your life. It’s your life. I just want to make sure it’s an option to you. If you don’t get insurance, get sick, and then have to file bankruptcy, I want to remove every reasonable excuse a citizen can use as to why they weren’t covered. Right now, the only excuse is cost.

Does everyone have a thousand pennies? I mean, I'm fine for an opt-in coverage.
....Not for minors, though. I think minors coverage needs to be mandatory.

In the US, I don’t think you could show me a single able minded American who can’t make $10 more dollars. Wash windshields, open a back yard car wash, sell newspapers. Hell, just make a cardboard sign and stand on a street corner. You will make 10 bucks in less than an hour.

I'm trying to clarify that you aren't making a reducto ad absurdum argument. Like I said, I believe in opt-in insurance (mandatory for minors).
