I won't argue with you that the story of these games is sometimes ridiculous, but what, in your opinion, makes 'the best VG story ever'? Does it really have to be a 'realistic story' to be good? Besides, what is a good story? Doesn't that also have to do with personal preference? I'm not saying MGS games have the best VG stories ever, but the great thing about MGS, at least for me, is that cinematic feeling, the storytelling, the tons of interesting characters with their own storie and motivations, the conspiracies...AND of course the humor and gameplay. And yes, even how ridiculous the story of MGS games sometimes can be, i love the story in these games. It's an interesting mix of conspiracy-theories and science-fiction in real world settings. |
You're right, I phrased that wrong, it has everything to do with personal preferences. I was just recalling threads on here that said in 20 years college courses would study the MGS story the same way classic literature is studied today, and the fact that if someone, somehow, did not like the MGS story, then they either must be a fanboy, or not know anything about what makes a good story, b/c HK is, of course, a genius.
