You could say the same thing about the ring. Then if Francis drake died on the island how did the ring with the coffens co-ordinates get to Nathan Drake. Most probably whoever got the ring with the co-ordinates to drakes family also put the journal in the coffin and dropped it in those co-ordinates and it never said if francis drake was on that expedition to find el dorado alone. Perhaps when Francis found how dangerous el dorado was, he sent one of his crew to bury his journal in hopes that one day his ancestor would find the coffin , go in search for el dorado, find how dangerous it is and destroy it or drop it to the bottom of the deep sea just like Nathan did.
