I could not ignore the Pope's words. Without his support, a war with Venice will not even be possible in the first place, and I will risk excomunication later or simply be forced to cease hostilities constantly.
I will simply have to bite the loss, and send my main force in Florence to go on the crusade.
I am now at war with Egypt... a nation I do not even border.
However, all is not to waste, while my Crusaders past Venice, news of Venice's excomunication reached me. I can easily send some non-crusading soldiers of mine to garison a city. I may risk some desertion, but it does not matter, I can hire mercenaries easily.
(I'm going to be doing these in more bite sized pieces, for my sake).
