Yeah, but Zero Suit Samus has a massive advantage: Breasts, exquisite breasts!! 
I think it'd have a detrimental effect on the character of the Chief, he's supposed to be a mysterious, super-human soldier. Revealing a face would add a human dimension to him that wouldn't do anything to enhance to depiction of the character. He's appealing enough to many gamers as it is.
