J. R. R. Tolkien, Gary Gygax, and Richard Garriott They should probably be at the very top. There would be no fantasy, rpg, or games like Zelda without these three.
Ken Williams -- husband of Roberta Williams the woman who created King's Quest. They created the graphic adventure genre and Sierra On-Line.
Dave Halverson -- Published the two greatest US videogame magazines of all time with Diehard Gamefan and Play Magazine. He also created DieHard Gamer's Club, which began the importation of Japan only games into the US in the early nineties particularly on Genesis and SNES.
