The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is the second best selling Zelda game ever (combining Wii and GC sales), second only to OoT.

Wii- 5.31 million

GC- 1.56 milion

Zelda games tend to sell less the sencond time around. This trend appears on all of Nintendos systems that have had 2 or more  Zelda games, NES, GB, GBA, N64, and GC (although this one is a bit odd).

---NES - The Legend of Zelda - 6.51 million

-Zelda 2 - 4.38 million

---N64 - Ocarina of Time - 7.6 million

-Majora Mask - 3.36 million

---GC - Wind Waker - 4.55 million

-TP - 1.56

---GB/GBC - Links Awakening (both versions) - 6.05 million

Oracle of Ages/Seasons - 3.78 million

---GBA - Link to the Past (4 swords) - 2.58 million

Minish Cap - 1.34 million

The second game of each system was released to a larger install base, so it SHOULD have sold better, right? That is obviously not the case. My question now is if you guys think the trend will continue with the DS/Wii? With the exception of Nintendos 'down' period of the GC and GBA, every Zelda to be released on a system first has sold well 5 million, makeing it possible for the franchise to sell over 10 million in that systems lifetime, even with the sequels lesser sales. Twilight Princess on Wii has just sold over 5 million, and Phantom Hourglass has 4.5 million. Do you guys think the Zelda series will be able to reach 10 million on either the Wii or DS?

Sure the generation isnt over (or will be anytime soon), it leaves time for the numbers to expand a bit, but will it help enough?
