I am posting this in the microsoft forum, because it relates to the xbox 360, and I keep hearing how this and that will make the difference. Anyhow, I am looking at these as reasons for why maybe the Japanese government should buy everyone a 360:
1. Isn't Sony pushing monopoly level, and getting people a rival system to it would help keep Sony down, and block it from taking over the world?
2. They are doing "Cash for klunkers". And since the ps3 is supposed to "yellow light" so much that would make the PS3 a klunker, right?
3. Forget price cut. You can't beat free, right?
4. The 360 in every home would accelerate adoption of HD dvd and drive people to buy their movies in HD format, which would stimulate the economy.
5. People are drawn to buy at least one game for a new system, so you have more sales.
6. The government could make Microsoft have avatars have educational content. They could also have Microsoft build a virtual government center in Home for Japanese citizens. You could then have Townhall meetings without every leaving your living room. 7. This is the next step for getting casual gamers to "become real" and go HARD CORE with pad controllers, and retire their waggle (and Wii controllers).
8. It would make the 360 the development platform of choice, as it is supposed to be, right?
9. The benefits of 360 market penetration would exceed the ranting by PS fanboys saying microsoft needed a bailout.
10. VGChartz would end up being overrun by microsoft fans, who would shout out any criticisms of microsoft. There will also be a glut of gears of war avatars. You can't have too much Cogs.
