I think the reason people might want it is because a lot of ps2 owners went to xbox.

Also, it really depends how much redundancy data is need to run the game. You could always just install that portion off of one disc and then make the rest of the discs level data. Even so, it would still be 7-8 discs and would require HD install.
His point about 17 discs isn't FUD. Whether or not MS really does disallow mandatory install is the whole case about installing redundancy data.

Also, to the guy wondering why ps3 version needed an install every chapter: It is because the game needs to unpack itself since it's heavily compressed. The specialized SPU helps that job get done faster. Typically, a game can unpack while it's playing, but with the sheer amount of data in that game, it really requires the game to unpack most of everything beforehand. That is why the install isn't that large, because it can compress faster off of the hard drive than off of the BR due to the read speed difference.
