I went to Gamestop today to look around a bit. While I was there, I ended up picking up Virtua Fighter 4 Evo for the PS2 (I'm a HUGE fighting game fan, and VF4E was $5. How can you pass that up?).

Anyways, while paying for it, the guy that worked there asked me if I wanted a PS2. I said no, since I already have one and didn't need another. He asked me if I was sure, then proceeded to explain to me why he was asking.

Earlier today, someone came in with an old "PS2 Phat" and tried trading it in. Thing is, they didn't have any of the cords, cables, or controllers for it - they JUST had the system itself. Gamestop can't accept that - they have to have ALL the appropriate accessories to hook it up and play it. So, they turned the people down.

However, dude said that if Gamestop wasn't going to take it, then they were just going to throw it away, so Gamestop said fine, we'll take it, but we won't give you anything for it. People were okay with that.

Anyways, after all of that was said and done, I ended up walking out of that Gamestop store with $5 less in my pocket, and two bags containing a classic cinder-block PS2, a copy of Metal Gear Solid, a copy of Metal Gear Solid 2, and a surprise hidden inside the PS2 - NCAA College Hoops 2K8.

The PS2 works PERFECTLY - it's entirely functional and plays all the games I've thrown at it so far (although that's only been College Hoops, MGS, and VF4E so far).

Also worth noting - it came with the ethernet/hard drive adapter attached, as well.

You may begin hating me now.

PS: Also, my original PS2 is a PS2 Slim, so I have both varieties now. The Slim I got from a former coworker almost two and a half years ago with two controllers, a 64MB memory card, ten games (including Vice City, Madden '03, Burnout 2, Midnight Club 3, and six other much lesser-known racers), and a desktop computer (160GB HDD, 16-inch CRT monitor, 2.4GHz Pentium 4, 512MB RAM)... all for $140. And remember - this was in early '07.
