Well, according to Cliffy, Gears of War was based on RE4 to an extent, so I think it would.

RE4 is one of the best games ever made.

RE4 was one of the best games ever made because it was new, fresh and current. Making RE5 like RE4 would make the game none of those things. Times and technology has changed.

Honestly I think they should take another stab at RE:Outbreak now that online world is developped. Make it a tad like dead rising with sandbox only scarier and you got a winner...
