I mean, 720p is a fake standard setup by TV makers. HD is technically whatever resolutions are above the accepted 480i/480p "standard" of old. True HD should have been 1200x800 and 1920x1200, but TV makers chose a different aspect ratio and for whatever reason decided to cut out those last 80/120 vertical lines...
