from the article I'm sure they count netflix. I'm sure they are just measuring how much time people spend using their systems a day. i.e. playing a movie, streaming music to play on your system, browisng pictures, playing games, etc. I'm sure all those count as playing your system. I don't see why doing those things would make the data incorrect. All of them require you using your system.
