I learned tolerance of defective consoles during the PS1 + PS2 eras.

Actually, my 360 has been no more problematic than my PS2, and less so than my PS1. And, hell, at least Microsoft admitted they had a problem and took care of it for me.

lets not act like ps2 or ps1 or in fact any system in HISTORY had a defective rate of anything close to the xbox 360...

This thread is flame bait true but your just not telling the truth... Sonys systems were way less the 360 thats a fact.

I wouldn't be so sure.  It's pretty much impossible to get any numbers that would be reliable on things like this though.  I wouldn't be surprised if the first PS2s were worse than the 360.  Sony was certainly faster to fix the issues with the PS2 though.

absolutely not....... 33% people 33%......... ps2 was never that high. i bought every system first day and this is my 7th xbox... i never had to replace so many systems ever in my life.

I need a link proving that ps2 was anywhere near 33% (which i know it was not). M$ had to release a extended warranty...... they HAD to.... no one esle in history had to take a BILLION dollar hit on repairs of a console lol.  guesses are not facts
