I use IE8 myself. It does everything I need it to. And looking at the arrogance of a few of the FF users in this thread, it reminds me why I will never use FF.

I don't know about ignorance.  Many people using Firefox nowadays did so because it worked so much better than IE7.  I admit that I have not tried IE8 very much yet, but until I start hearing really good things about it from people, things that make it sound better than Firefox, I won't bother trying it.  I believe that sums up the feelings of many Firefox users here.

Also, since IE is bundled with windows, it is the most used by begginer knowledge computer users which are the users most likely to be infected by viruses.  Therefore, that is the browser malware-designers will target most often.

My personal thought are that if someone wants to use FF, then fine, they can. But I've run into too many people IRL that try to tell me that IE is broken, that my using it contributes to problems with the internet, etc. And they all tried to shove FF down my throat. Sorry, but if I don't perceive something as broken, just telling me it is, or that it doesn't follow codes, isn't going to get me to switch. (Though for the record, I do know that IE8 fixed the standards problem. Maybe that's why I have to use this site in compatibility mode?)

As for virii, I'd say that at least 99% of them can be avoided by thinking about what you do. Any porn sites I go to are "reputable", and I don't let all those damned freeware items on to this machine. I like my computer streamlined. However, this machine is getting due for a format; it's been almost 4 years since I got it, and I never format it.

Would you mind me asking what anti-malware software you are using?

AVG and Spybot run constantly, and I periodically run Ad-Aware just in case something was missed.

@Kantor: Try reading my prior post. I do know some of these people. And no, it's not superior in my eyes. If it is what makes some people arrogant pricks, then no, I refuse to join them. I go by an old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." IE8's not broke, so I'll just keep using it.
