considering Nintendo, Sony, and Sega are all Japanese companies I don't think you can really argue otherwise.
For america you have microsoft and atari. Not even close.

Well, what do you consider "japanese?"

Sony puts out a lot of good 1st party games, I think everyone agrees with that... but 3/4 of them are by developers they aquired (european & america developers).  They are not japanese.  They are just owned by a japanese company.

What do you consider them?

American Developers owned by Sony
Naughty Dog
Santa Monica Studio
San Diego Studio
Sony Bend
Sony Online Entertainment LLC.
Incognito Entertainment
Zipper Interactive
European Develoeprs owned by Sony
London Studio
Studio Cambridge
Studio Liverpool
Guerrilla Games
Evolution Studios
Bigbig Studios

(5 of which are UK, so this helps the UK arguement of being major contributors)

that leaves Sony with 4 actual "japanese" developers.   Even 2nd party developers that Sony uses... all the great games are from US/UK (Resistance series, LittleBigPlanet, Rachet & Crank series, Sly cooper series, inFamous, Heavy Rain, Heavenly Sword).

I don't know about you, but I certainly don't consider Volvo to be an American car, just because Ford owns them.

Neoraf, nice post.  I think a lot of people are sleeping on Canadian developers. They've also contributed a lot to gaming.
