I'd agree with this, but only the first playthrough when you're not too sure what you've been doing the whole game leveling up your guys and drawing magics the wrong way. At the end of my first time playing the game, I missed most of the GFs and I couldn't level up my guys the good way and I turned out to be underpowered. After replaying the game a few years later, the final boss was a breeze because I found out about a little GF called Cactuar and other good stuff like that (I was also used to the gameplay mechanics).

I think the hardest final boss in FF is the one in Final Fantasy III. What a cheap ass mother f**ker!! And I thought I was overpowered too (I've been grinding a lot in the game). But just when you think you're about to finish the game... *First turn: Attacks three times all your party members. Die already... WTF just happened?*

This. Ultimecia is still the hardest IMO even if you'prepared and didn't miss major things due to having to lose characters and other weird stuff. All FF final bosses are easy and she's the only one who actually tried to be challenging. The biggest joke of all the FF bosses was Sin (FFX boss). Is there anyone who'd have trouble defeating sin after surviving Great Marlboro's and Behemoth Kings as random encounters?

If your looking for challenging storyline bosses though, FF is not for you because it was made so the mainstream don't get frustrated. Check out ShinMegami Tensei: Nocturne if you want to actually play a challenging JRPG.

Dual casting ultima or having your character able to do 80,000+ damage per hit helps too
