It doesn't help that Nintendo sells points in 1000 point increments and then doesn't offer cheap solutions to help customers rid themselves of excess points. Let's say I buy an SNES game for $8 and I have $2 worth of points left over. Well there's nothing there I see for $2, so I just let the points sit. If Nintendo allowed titles to be priced in that range, your excess points could now be used for cheaper titles.

As I've seen some people comment before, that's partially the point of only being able to buy points in specific amounts. You either let the points sit there, which doesn't matter to them as they have already gotten the money for those points, or you'll decide to get something else and get more points, which is more money for them. I personally do not find the prices in general that bad. Perhaps a few, but not really that expensive of a regret. I've certainly done much more expensive ones, but I could also get behind a larger range of prices. Now as for one of your comments earlier (you said user reviews), I know at least on the Japanese Nintendo Channel (my American one is in the shop), that they have implemented a system for marking games as bronze, silver and gold. I don't think this is quite as expansive as you'd like, but they have implemented at least some sort of system recently.
