IV, V, and VI may have been re-released last generation and even had extra content, but they were enhanced ports, not remakes. I and II were remade last generation, so that's granted, though they were remade again this generation.
Be patient. If the pattern holds, V will be the next to be remade, then VI, etc. IX is not being ignored any more than VIII is. Its time just hasn't come yet - and it doesn't have VII's advantage of being the most disproportionately popular game in the series.
I look forward to whenever they do remake it. All that's needed is patience.
