Wrong. The 6 million figure was for the previous fiscal year. That covers the timeframe April 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007. And that wasn't even retailer sales. That was measuring leaving the factory sales. And they fell short of their goal of leaving the factory numbers by about .5 million.
The current year Sony's estimate is 11 million for the fical year, which means April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008. They changed the method of accounting so now the 11 million is estimated for sold to retail.
