It means more and less now which system you own. It means less in that every game is whored onto multiple systems so if you're an offline gamer it doesn't really matter. However with online it does matter because the networks aren't interconnected you do actually have some benefit if you're an Xbox 360 gamer to get more people and especially your friends to buy say Xbox 360s instead of PS3s. So yeah the stakes are actually higher and the actual battle going on for the HD systems is probably more to do with the battle to subscribe these gamers and establish a dominant online network.
