I hope they are at least. Just like I hope Sucker Punch are working on a new Sly Cooper.

Business wise though... do you think that's the best decision?

When's the last time a platformer with cartoon-style graphics sold well on the Ps3 or 360? That's the crowd Ps3 is aimed at. I know those games sell well on Wii, but that's an entirely different user base and let's be honest...Mario is always an exception.

IMO Sly Cooper is a waste of development time. It was never popular and probably never will be. The first few games on Ps2 didnt sell well... Why even continue the series when they could be putting their time into making something new? How about using the InFamous engine to make an GTA style open-world stealth game...

While I'd love a new Sly Cooper game, I realize time and resources are limited and gaming is a business. It would be a mistake to waste time on Sly.

Whether or not it's the best decision is irrelevant. Sly was the least selling of the 3 big platformers for the Playstation 2 but if there is eventually a more affordable price for the PS3, the platformer series shouldn't be counted out completely (not saying it'll be this year). Ratchet didn't sell as well as previous games but you have to also keep in mind the fact that Ratchet & Clank was/is the only one of the PS3 exclusive platformers that has made the jump to the HD systems (which it has done quite well and I'm sure it has at least made the money back since they are making a new one).

I agree the platformer genre shouldnt be counted out as many Wii owners may be looking for one of the HD consoles to buy as well. However Sly has never been popular and most likely never will be. It's not going to sway peoples mind when they are choosing the Ps3 or 360.

IMO every dev on Sony should be working on AAA blockbusters, not games that already reached their potential and have no fanbase.

And whether or not it's the best decision is totally relevant. Devs don't make games for no reason my friend. It's a business, whether you realize it or not.
