Kant-Hatchet vs Zenfolder

= Zenfolder K.O.

"I used to use his technique. Found out it makes people hate me, and it's dishonest."

lol, you "used" ? you mean 1 week ago ?

Oh, you're just mad because of Gamereactor and their great big ignorant French wrongness concerning Fallout 3.

As for Kant-Hatchet-kun, I agree to disagree.

Montana agreed with me earlier in the thread, so I let it slide when he said Tekken was one of the more casual fighting franchises. That's completely wrong. No conditions or reasons. It's just wrong, imho. I couldn't disagree more.

It's not really the "non-hype" I blame the PS3 fanboys for. Who can blame them for that, really? Playing up this game is, afterall, playing up a victory for Microsoft. Tekken has been a Sony related IP for a decade. I'm just stating an opinion about WHY the game isn't as hyped. I think it's silly to say that the 360 fans hyping the game make up for the fact that it's no longer PS3 exclusive.

We all know the treatment PS3 exclusive games get, and because that's so obvious, is the reason why my opinion is substanative. Quoting a bunch of examples of the largest multiplats this generation which came out when the debate was still raging over Wii vs HD consoles, and not 360 vs PS3 is cherrypicking. Exclusives on average are more hyped than Multiplats because of the console war. It gets people excited to talk about the games that the people they hate might not get to play. This game isn't Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto. It's never gonna have that hype level. However, were it an exclusive on EITHER console, it would be hyped more than it currently is imo, and blaming the hype death on the fighting genre itself, or the game not being good, or late, is a cop-out.

Tekken is one of the more casual fighting franchises. I'm sure we could get into a huge fanboy debate over fighting mechanics and other BS no one cares about, but at the end of the day, it appeals the most to casual fighting fans (hence why it sells the most out of the big 4/5, and hence  why I called it the most casual).

This non-hype stuff is bullshit. How much do we know about Tekken 6 anyways? The characters, maybe? How much would you have heard about Tekken 6 if you weren't scrounging for every last bit of info? Like I've said before, we've known about Tekken 6 since before E3 2006. And yet still, Namco hasn't shown us anything interesting. We've had two absolutely amazing games in the Virtua Fighter and Street Fighter series, an above average game in the Soul Calibur series, BlazBlue, a bunch of old arcade titles, King of Fighters, Dead or Alive, and a bunch of other games. Why should anyone care about Tekken anymore? We probably knew about Tekken 6 before any of these other titles, and yet all these titles have been released before Tekken 6. Were Sony fanboys scared to play up GTA4, since they knew it would be playing up a victory for Microsoft? What about Virtua Fighter 5, for that matter? It doesn't matter what the game is, most times people don't care. There have been big games like GTA4, Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil 5, and Devil May Cry 4 that have sold very well on the PS3 despite losing exclusivity. I will agree with you on something. If the game is somehow less hyped, 360 fans don't make up for it. They just nab the game, and then couldn't give less of a shit about it. It's disgusting, frankly.

Exclusive games in general get hyped. The fact that you're pinning this solely on the PS3 shows your immense bias. You wouldn't have to look far to see the internet hype for Halo 3, Gears, Mass Effect, or any big 360 game. The debate about HD vs. Wii was finished the second the Wii stomped on the 360 and took the lead. It sent a clear signal: The Wii rules this generation, not the HD consoles. I quoted these examples because they're examples that disprove your point, although I guess calling it cherry picking would help you save face. Anywho, let's use an example similar to Tekken. Let's look at Soul Calibur 4. How well would this have sold if it was PS3 exclusive? I'm assuming, of course, that hype translates to sales. The previous games in the series didn't sell that much more than the iteration on each of the seperate HD platforms, so even if the PS3 version did sell more, it wouldn't be by much. Or how about this? If exclusives are more hyped, answer my original statement. How are PS3 owners so rejecting of multiplatform games, if their highest selling game is a former exclusive that was oh-so-dreadfully stolen by the 360? If anyone's protectionist, the Sony fanboys would be the least of the bunch. Especially since the multiplatforms of games that were "stolen" have higher attach rates, and occasionally higher sales, on the PS3.
