PS1, PS2, and the 360 have had the worst failure rates in history for early models.

Everything else is just luck of the draw. All Nintendo consoles are incredibly well built, but there is ALWAYS small percentage (less than 1% for nintendo systems if i remember correctly) that they will fail. Consequently when someone has one thing break on them they think the manufacturer is terrible and the system blows, in reality you are just very unlucky. The only times failure rates have been a serious problem are with the ps1, ps2, and 360.
