The solution I use is to go online wirelessly with my PC. I then connect the 360 to the PC using the ethernet cable and then use the PC's internet connection to get online on the 360. Means your PC has to be on of course but at least avoids having to pay for the ridiculously overpriced wireless adapter.

You saying that I can connect an ethernet cable to my laptop and then connect that cable to the 360 and go online?

That would be amazing! My laptop is always on anyways so it would be fine.

If what you say is true then I have to try that out.

This works, I've done it several times on my laptop and PC.

1. Control Panel
2. Network Connections
3. Right your wireless connection and select properties
4. Go the Advanced tab
5. Check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internection connection."
6. Connect XBox Ethernet to computer or laptop, restart

That should do it.
