Sorry I was not aware that the 'deal' between Intelligent Systems and Square was a mistranslation, considering it was reported on by many people.

However, the information that Ocarina of Time was made over the course of 4+ years comes from Miyamoto's own mouth from interviews.  And its well known that Nintendo begins pre production and concept design on games even before the consoles come out.  Look at the TGS footage for Link fighting Ganon that eventually turned into Twilight Princess more than 5 years later.
