Maybe there was something heavy in the ice?
Something that made it unusally dense.
Like one of those T-rex dinosaurs with lazer canons like it's fellow toys where the people have to fight the ant-men with dinosaurs that have rockets and missles and such on them.
Edit: One of these.
Built in sequel. Cobra could get a bunch of those and tear stuff up.
